What Assize Books publishes
Assize Books publishes non-fiction about the UK legal system that is built on data. Our books use official statistics and other primary sources to show how the law and the courts work in practice, for readers in and around the legal sector and anyone curious about how justice is done.
Our first titles are in preparation.
Our approach
- Built on primary sources. Every figure and chart can be traced to its source, and each book credits the data it uses.
- Clear about dates. Each book states the date the law is stated as at, so you know how current it is.
- Careful with people. Before publication, every book is checked against the law on contempt of court, reporting restrictions and anonymity, and against data protection law.
- Not legal advice. Our books explain how the legal system works. They are not a substitute for advice on your own situation.
