The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly and are not disadvantaged in their day-to-day lives. We have pledged to uphold its principles: that members of the Armed Forces Community should not face disadvantage arising from their service in the provision of public and commercial services, and that special provision may be justified for those who have given the most, such as the injured or bereaved.

Our commitments, and how we are honouring them

Promoting the Armed Forces

  • We display our signed Covenant on this page and on our accreditations page.
  • We mark Armed Forces Day each June on our social media channels.

Employment

  • We welcome applications from Service leavers, veterans, reservists and Service spouses and partners, and we recognise military skills and qualifications when we assess them.
  • Guaranteed interview. If you are a veteran, or a Service spouse or partner, and you meet the essential criteria for a role, we will offer you an interview. Tick the box on the application form for any of our jobs.
  • We support any employee who is a reservist with flexible working and leave for training and mobilisation, where the needs of the business allow.
  • We offer Service spouses and partners flexibility with leave before, during and after a partner’s deployment.

Communications and outreach

  • Every job advert on this website mentions our commitment to the Covenant.
  • We advertise suitable vacancies through veteran-focused channels such as the Career Transition Partnership and the Forces Employment Charity.

Suppliers and partners

  • We welcome veteran-owned businesses and Armed Forces-friendly organisations as suppliers and partners, and we encourage our suppliers to support the Armed Forces Community.

Recognition

  • We are working towards the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award, within twelve months of signing: by 19 October 2027.
